What brought you here?
When I say here, I mean to this movement.
Make no mistake, this is a movement. A movement of people who are pretty much fed up with what is happening to families in childbirth.
For me it was a series of experiences over a decade of birth support. But what keeps me here are the stories I hear every day.
Sara sent me an email a few days ago telling me that she’d been planning a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). She was now 40 weeks and 3 days.
...
During her visit, the doctor asked if she is having contractions and she confirmed she was having mild ones for the past few hours. He explained that he spoke with the head of OB and they can’t “let” her have her baby vaginally because the ultrasound a few days earlier showed a big baby. He even offered up the information that he knows ultrasound can be off, but “we just can’t risk it.” non-formal garments for wedding in short length
Oh, and by the way, if she doesn’t agree to a cesarean, she’ll just have to go somewhere else.
I don’t have to tell you what’s wrong with this story. You know it well, or some variation. It has caused feelings of sadness, rage, and frustration to bubble over a thousand times before.
So, what’s your story? What’s the story that really pushed that activist button? Or better yet, what happened just this month?
You likely have a story that you know of just this month or even this week. Sad, right?
You have a story about the distorted balance of power that is happening in hospitals everywhere, and forgive me if I’m wrong, but I think you really want to do something about it.
ImprovingBirth has a purpose and plan, but it doesn’t happen without you.
In just two weeks, we will relaunch our website with new tools and ways for you to make a difference.
One more thing! The response to our recent survey was amazing, and I thank you. BUT, there was a glitch! I’m hoping you will be so kind to do it again:
